Ironwood Grill's New Bar Is Open

Visited the Ironwood tonight and checked out their new bar. Full report can be found here, if you're really interested.

I encourage everyone to check it out (the bar, not my review) and give your opinion in the comments below. I think it's good that local bars are taking up the challenge of providing a place for craft beer drinkers to enjoy a pint or two. Whether or not they'll garner a lot of business from our unique niche of customer base remains to be seen - as we tend to be a bit more savvy when it comes to beer purchasing.

The beer tastings at the Ironwood should start in April and run on the first Tuesdays of each month (what a happy coincidence for the club!). Perhaps we can assemble en masse for April's meeting and share our thoughts while sampling some new beers.

Yeah Lacey and I hit up the new Ironwood bar tonight. Talk about crappy... How about the quilt covering up the unfinished wall? Everything seems like it was built in a hurry, and really shitty too.

The beer selection was fine, and it is nice to be able to drink the good shit at a bar in Indiana, but the hipsters definitly crowd that place like a mufucca. Basically, you can put a few good bottles in it, but it's still an Indiana bar. Maybe if I went there during the day while ya'll are at work it'd be better....

OUCH.

Too be honest, I'm more concerned above value and service than looks and demographics.

If its a good bar that knows its beer, sells it well, has good beers at a fair price, I could care less who is there. Calling out hipsters just means you're getting old, Jon!

Well, unless its a Jimmy Buffet night.

Aight that's fair. Value - too pricey. Service - don't know jack about beer.

I guess I should stop bitching, I was just real dissapointed.

Oh and Eli, I'll call out who I want when I want, regardless of my getting elderly. Hipsters gotta be put in their place sometimes....

Shellac night? That's where the hipsters are at.

Yeah don't get me wrong, dives have their place, as does upscale. Maybe they rushed into opening.

I'm more concerned that in their rush they failed to educate their bar staff.

Also, yeah there's always going to be someone that bugs you no matter where you go. If the vibe of the place cannot be overcome by good beer, that is when a problem arises.

The staff is definitly under-educated. Lacey asks for a Hop Hog, gets a Hop Wallop.... Oh well such is life....
